He said
‘stories are beautiful tapestry, woven by wit to portray the essence of life’

And I couldn’t help, but agree.

He said
‘allow me to be your devoted chaperon in this quest; The Quest for a Pristine Love’.

And I acquiesced

under the sheets

He said
‘I am only human, I cannot promise you a transcendental love. All I can offer is my presence, time, and attention. I can only give what looks ordinary, but intrinsically ethereal. Do you agree to this?

And I nodded

He said
‘I am no philosopher of love, but what love truly means is, feeling tranquil in the arms of imperfection. Making a perfect imperfect choice in a sea of imperfection. Sacrificing a part of you for another

And I conceded

He said
‘you asked me why I chose to love you. Darling! I do not need a reason to love you. Your ‘being’ is enough to love you’

And I smiled

He said
‘I do not say you are beautiful for I will be stating the obvious. I say you have a beautiful soul for it holds more substantial value’.

And I blushed

He said
’embrace the failures, flaws, and imperfections, for, without them, you wouldn’t be ‘you’.

And I stared wide eyed

He said
‘savour the aroma of life. Bask in it sunlight. Dance in it rain. Throw your head up high and give It your best smile’

And I smiled

He said
‘if you ever need a friend, a mentor, a lover, a driver, and a healer; look, through the pages of books, and there, you will find the whole package’

And he was not far from the truth

He said
‘I do not like to see you sullen, for it doesn’t suit your serene eyes. If I could take all your worries and pain away I would have done that. But, what is life without worries? What is a life without pain? You need the pain to live my dear. Still, it hurt me to see you sad’

And my eyes watered

He said
‘I have come this far in life, but indeed every man has his end. And my end is near. Thank you darling for with you I found my true essence; my true purpose. I promised to be your chaperon and I did, in return, you gave me pristine love; an unwavering devotion. Though we may be apart in this life, our love lives on.

And I buried him.
