The poem expresses the affection I had for Maiduguri, a place where I was brought up. But I miss it now due to the calamity that befalls the land. – Daniel Singfuri Yohanna
Maiduguri, in those days admiring you
Is a music I loved,
You lift up my spirit,
Like medication to my soul.
I praise North East
Like the cherished rainbow
In the sky of Rivers,
A perfection to our country.
But now you bury
Your children & strangers
In the name
Boko Haram.
