My head is bloodied and beaten, and my body twisted and turned
By the winds.
If my tears were to be collected, they would fill Kimberley’s
Hole. Yet I still smile.

I thought that I was a mistake.
A miscalculated move of a moment’s pleasure.
I fought and continue to fight, to learn what it is to love oneself.
A battle that never ends, the enemy within is waiting to
Stop me in my tracks. Daily telling me that I am unloved.
What will stop me from smiling?
Will failure, death, poverty, or perhaps sadness
Stop me from smiling.

Don’t feel sorry for me. Don’t cry for me.
Through all of it, I still smile.
